Cayden and I spent the last week of our time together in Baton Rouge (for now, since I’m moving to Colorado) doing everything we have been saying we wanted to do but never made time for. We just pushed all other plans aside and said, okay, we’re going to make the most of this week.

We went to the lazy river at our school gym, kayaked, walked Leo outside (yes, a cat on a leash), visited his family and then did something I’ve been dying to do for years… BLUEBERRY PICKING.

Louisiana berries are of the highest quality. As a matter of fact, we have the best berries, peaches, watermelon, tomatoes, zucchini… maybe I’m just biased. We know how to grow some good produce.

We woke up at 5:30 AM to drive to a you-pick blueberry farm, which uses organic growing techniques. We ended up picking 13.75 pounds of blueberries, which you buy for (wait for it) $3 A POUND. I was in heaven.

What does a girl do with 13.75 pounds of the best blueberries in the world, besides eating them by the handful all day? Make blueberry pancakes, jam, waffles, smoothies and the most beautiful summery peach blueberry sangria!

This mint-infused peach blueberry sangria is non-alcoholic, so feel free to serve it to kiddos and adults alike! We’re using white grape juice and seltzer water for a sweet, fizzy base.

We’re also adding Pompeian Organic Apple Cider Vinegar because 1. it contains “the Mother” which contributes to its health benefits, and 2. it adds a tangy, fermented flavor similar to wine!

Looking for a kid- and adult-friendly drink to serve at your 4th of July party that still tastes incredible? These peach blueberry sangria mocktails will satisfy your summer sweet tooth!

Okay, I’m off to eat more blueberries. Wish me luck!
